Meet P.A.T. Dog Jake and owner Nicola Rouch

Jake is a Hebrew name which literally translated means 'supplanter at the heel'; an apt name perhaps for a bouncy Border Collie.

Although there are several meanings for the supplanter, the most apt is the one that means mischievous - and on that note we'll say no more!

Jake is indeed a pretty lively soul, focussed never the less on his duties at hand and a clever pupil, always determined to master new skills, with a happy disposition and a permanent cheeky grin. The grin might appear to say butter won't melt but it probably means it already has!

Jenerelena is a name made up of names and one of acclaim in the canine world, certainly a name that attests that he comes from a good breeding line. This affords Jake with handsome looks and he wears his name with pride. With his expressive smiling eyes and pricked ears, the combination of athletic build with cute looks makes Jake the complete package!

His mild nature means that he is always an amiable, if sometimes exuberant, companion generous with his abiding affection.

 

Play the game - and Jake certainly does! No name could be more fitting. Name the game and Jake will be at the centre of it.

 

But if to play the game also means to be a team player then Jake stands as a proud member of the West Lancs. Display Team amongst his many canine friends, and has already passed his Gold Good Citizens award.

Jake is the all-rounder and with his curious nature he has to be included in the fun- or else!

So what is in a name? Jake ''Jenerelena Play the Game''- well he might be a mischievous boy at the heel of his master, from the Jenerelena line, playing the game but that's only part of who Jake is.

 

For this hairy companion is the warm cosy cushion at his master's head. He is the greeting at the start and end of every day and he is the second set of footprints in the sand. Jake might be all of these things but he most of all he lives up to the finest name of all: best friend.
